Season Conclusion

Hello!

First of all, i`d like to say "Thank you" to the whole OvC crew for another amazing Faction PvP experience. Those few weeks very really amazing, I`ve had a good time with my friends through this season and I just wanted to show my gratitude for keeping the whole Faction Project. Good job! I really wanted to show my appreciation for what you are doing despite the avalanche of complaints and crying, there should always be topics like this one to remind all the good things you are doing. I have played on a lot of faction servers in the old days, which were back then named "Red vs Blue" or "Good vs Evil", but the thing is they are not even close to the point of development that OvC is right now. Those servers were really good and had quite a lot of players in the community, but they were lacking the way of improvement that offers OvC season after season which makes the game even more enjoyable and exciting. I have played here several seasons and i would like to put some Player Point-of-View about the current state of the server and the way things are going.

 

1.Gear Penalty/Rank Penalty/Level Penalty/Adena system

I remember @Lesley suggesting the Gear Penalty system, few seasons ago because we saw it on other PvP server and it was keeping the whole newbie/veterans stuff almost equal. The thing is that on OvC this system offers way too big penalty for both ungeared player and player with gear. Also several support classes are draining way too much from it like Warlords/Overlords/Tanks and when you reach the state of server on which you have better gear than most of the server, progressing is becoming really painfully.

This is exactly why we could see people abusing it by making new characters or playing WL in B grades constantly, because it was offering way too big reward if you compare it to your main character.

Adena Scrolls and Scavenger lvl 3 is also raising the penalty to the next LEVEL.

Simple Example:

Overlord event farm, all about spamming Pa`agario CP regen and Heal over time to achieve this kind of numbers constantly in a party with 2-3 DD. You end map with 30k income when your main DD`s that were sweating are getting like 1/7 of it.

Warlord/Tank does the same in party with DD and Stun+Earthquake spam or mass Provoke, things are getting even better if its an Domination map:

In the end you forcing players that played a lot and want to keep progressing even a bit by PvP to play supports like Warlord/Overlord/Tank,  its just this much rewarding for them. PvP on Faction server suddenly became kind of pointless.

I would suggest to keep the gear penatly at max 200% bonus at the first week and make it progressive the way @Emerald will see, the penalty for killing somebody that is geared worse than us shouldnt reach lower than 0% this way focusing on WL/Tanks wont be pointless anymore for DD`s, the rest is up to GM so lets say that he raises the bonus penalty for gear week after week for newbies, I dont own the server database to make such statistics approximately.  Anyway, a rework and test is pretty much required and needed here, in this sector, otherwise we wont have balance between fast/normal/slow peaced season.

2. Server Advertisement

Amazing move for this season was buying that Banner on Hopzone, for some time OvC was even in top10-11 of the list, opening was the biggest one i`ve ever seen so far here.

But stopping the advertise after 1 week wasn`t really good/healthy for the overall longevity of the server. Im not criticising the decision of putting the banner off, I just want to make a note here, that it was really an excellent move and if we would have our own banner for future seasons it will in 99% raise up the population and increase the fandom of the OvC community. There are still many people that haven`t this project!

3. Epic Grand Bosses

This is a MUST HAVE change for the next season. An even greater idea would be to actually make some specific time on which the epics will respawn, you could use the Tablet of Information, so after even 1st week people will know when to log on, raise the online and have some amazing mass PvP for Valakas/Antharas and other useful ones.

Big ones like Valakas/Antharas/Baium/Frintezza should also be delayed for first 4-5 days. But the rework is up to GM.

The drop should also we reworked a bit, I would suggest to make it like A grade drop for first 1-2 weeks of the server then changing it to S grades. People that see Arcana Maces on first day tend to make drama about it, wouldnt it be more fun to have longer A grades?

4. Merchant item prices compared to the current penalty system

Four words: too easy, too fast. AoE classes are able to farm the whole A grades in less than 6 good maps. The prices should also be adjusted to the grades low-mid-top A grade. Not the equal way for all. C`mon grade matters too in Lineage 2 not just the B-S rush.

Also S grades seems way too easy to gather, you raised the prices of adena by x10, okay seems fair, but how about Materials? They are still the same cheap stuff to gather. In past 6 seasons, making s grade weapon or one epic was more time consuming than it is right now. Make material boxes/or materials themself harder to gather or raise the requirement for S grade Gear. Because we will see the rat race for it since start otherwise. People in B grade going straight for S grade shouldn`t be the point.

5. God motivation/Death Luck buff boost

My friend @Advol has already mentioned it, but I`d like to also discuss it in this post. God motivation is another abusable factor, because if one Faction decides to go just for the kills, they will get kills and then buff for doing it, which provides bonus Stats?

I understand that the buff itself was made for the Newbie purpose, but from my point of view the bonus should be cut in half/nerfed/reworked or just provide extra Defensive Stats, not Offensive. We will reach the archer domination stuff and then they will get +600 p.atk because they are killing instead going for Flags, of course they will, you are encouraging them to do it 😄

Right now, the buff is just too OP, if u add an PvP player with experienced hands to it, bang, you have an Spellhowler/Archer/Gladiator rolling 90 kills on maps because he is getting rewarded for it 😛 for killing and ignoring objective.

6. Possibility to change the Meta after each season

This one is more of an suggestion rather than statement.

MOBA Arena map made me think that OvC Staff is familiar with games like DoTa 2 or League of Legends. The idea of implementing an meta to Faction Server sounds cool to me.

Small changes season after season, so players have to again play/check what works, whats this season good PvP Class or what is not. I think that by creating some kind of meta each season would be something different and even more enjoyable to play.

You doing it already anyway, by changing some classes, maybe you are aware of it, maybe you are unconsciously doing it, anyway it would be a great feature and i would look forward to see more of it.

 

Okay, lets say this is one part of some idea`s i`ve discussed and consulted with OvC Players/my clan mates and friends that play the server. After i see community/staff response im prepared to put some extras/more solutions.

All of the above mentioned points and suggestions are meant to show Players POV of the server, so both players and OvC Staff could get to some kind of understanding, solution and conclusion.

I hope i did my best to explain in a gentle and polite way. It`s just a group opinion to improve the future season experience and gameplay. I`m looking forward to any kind of cooperation.

I think it's a joke that u can't play a single map without god buff. I understand that a losing side should get some help especially when they are losing hard. Getting the buff when u are losing by 1 point is questionable.

He will read and care about it if you have alot of support on something (good or bad idea). I dont know if you played 2 season ago (h5 season from October i think), but emerald did nerf the mage class like crazy only because most of the server community asked for it(im not saying that emerald didnt test/check anything ofc).

This decision ended to be really bad for 2 reason : 1st is that that nerf asked was mostly asked by players that had no idea of the difference between interlude and h5 chronicle (attribute system) and 2nd is that the nerf was WAY WAY too big and it just ended by killing the mage class making them from top to bottom (even dwarf dagger was probably better)

1. This system definitely need to be changed/updated. I will talk for myself for this season and i can confirm without any problem that by spending 0$ in donation, just buying FA in town for adena scrolls with the adena i farmed and by making 4-5 WL in B grade, it took me 3days to have aq/b and DracBow and 3-4 more days to have valakas, antharas, zaken and almost drac set. I didnt got any luck from RB drop, all those items i did buy them from NPC and mats from market shop.

It shouldnt be possible to be on your endgame gear after 1 week and then if you want to farm more after this, you cant even play your main char thats fully geared cause if you do this it mean your farming is over, you wont be able to farm to make your weapon +++ or set +6 or even farm gear for sub.

Sad part is that even if had b/aq/db after 3days, i couldnt play with, why? simple, if i would have play with, my adena farming was like 0, so the only way left to farm more was to not use that gear and play B grade WL. Its normal to have penalty if you have S weapon vs B grade, but you should still be able to farm (map as archer with b/aq/db was like 3-4k adena mb vs WL who could make 20k to 30k by spamming 3 aoe)

3. Epic boss shouldnt be happening before few days to avoid "lucky" players to have valakas/am/db/b/aq in less than 1 day. Now about epic boss time, those event should never be at 4-5am, they should always be during the time with the most online, so probably EU prime time and mb also during the afternoon for weekend. I dont have any stats or screenshot, but i saw many epic boss event between 1am to 6-7am and this is really bad cause this the time where the server have probably 80% of the players offline.

5. Simple, remove it or make it only DEF buff or find a way to give it ONLY and ONLY to the losing side players who are trying to win the event (CTF = ppl who pick up flag, DOM = ppl who go in the zone, FORT = ppl that go in/try to cast) so it would mean that all those mage/archer who afk farm with god buff would never be able to get it and abuse it except if they are working on winning the event also and not just farming kills.

Best example i can give you of the GOD buff abusing are the Battlefield map (where you have to control base).... capture 0 base for 24min, ENJOY the full pvp with GOD motivation and then the last 30sec go and capture the base. Good job on playing the full map under god motivation and winning the event.

i agree with 1-3-5 , god motivation deathboost are disgusting , epics randomly spawned and who is getting the relic ? maybe make it with last  hit or most damage ? or something like the top damage dealer in pvp damage  + pve damage.

true about death buff, especially if you add it with the WL/tank b grade army wgo get retarded boost from it.

@AdvolI'm not supporting ideas which is coming from people who's selling items for real money in game 🙂 Making harder to get epics/S grade items equals to higher prices in black market.

1. Adena Scrolls and Scavenger lvl 3  > They are fine.
Overlord event farm + (duelist/warlord) -> Decrease only the AOE skills gear penalty bonus. For everybody else this bonus is fine, especially for newbies and solo players vs groups.

 

3. Epic Grand Bosses -  dont run them on the first days. Run epics only if more ppl online.

 

5. God motivation/Death Luck buff boost ->
God motivation is fine. If ppl want to pvp they pvp, if they have this buff in their favor do something about it, dont rush for obj. Some ppl dont want to run for flags for 30 mins, they pvp anyways even without this buff.

Death Luck buff boost - > you are just butthurt that a B grader kills you without any effort. Now that poor B grade guy has been killed several times by geared players (or a party) and for any chance of competition he needs that boost. 

*Also S grades seems way too easy to gather.  -  Partly agree. Currently, less enchants are being dropped so ppl rush for higher grade instead of buying and enchanting A/B grade.
Lock S grade for until X amount of A items have been bought OR make S grade harder to get.
Increase the drop rate of lower enchants. So average players have enchanted lower gear.
Top players/CLANS rush for S grade anyways. This would also reduce the gear difference penalty bonus problem, if ppl run around with enchanted A items vs pure S grade.

That's exactly why I WON'T do it, people who don't want to miss on epics should be online as much as they can in order to catch them, not log on just for the epics and then log off again.

I will never add such a big delay, however I already added a small delay so that at least people who have issues logging in after server starts can have some time to solve it before losing any epics, I will adjust this delay and make it vary depending on how good a grand boss is (for example Valakas will have bigger delay than Sailren).

Again, you're suggesting a too long delay, people can get these items much faster without having to kill epics already.

I will make it so epics won't drop S-grade items the first few days of the server.

Material prices were also raised by x10 so I don't really see your point.

What I do think made progression faster was the fact people can now sell stuff to shop for Adena, i'll reduce the adena gained from it by a bit.

Regarding God Motivation, I find it hard to believe that during big online the whole faction co-operates to not take any flag until the end of the event, people barely co-operate on a Wisdom Test event...

I'll reduce the offensive stats it gives by a bit anyway.

death buff is ok the way you talking about it, but what ajeel and me were talking about has nothing to do with being butthurt cause we got killed by B grade guy, its about how it can easy be "abused".

@EmeraldSo for you its normal that an epic raid spawn at 5am with 95% of the player offline cause at this time they sleep? working or not, you need to sleep :D. Having a fixed time like lets say "next valakas monday 8pm" is bad ofc, but you can do something like this then :

What about making something like from 1am to 11am no epic raid event can start, so it mean epic raid can be only from 11am till 1am, its 14hours window, dont you think its good enough ? lets take someone that doesnt work, he will play 14hours, sleep 8hours and use 2 hours for random stuff that any human person need. For ppl that work/study, if you count that they work 7-8hours/day, they got only 6-7hours left to play so atleast for them it deacrese there chance to miss all the epic boss since they cant be spawning during the night/early morning(EU time).

The way you said it, its like you are asking us to be online 24hours/day if we want to get those epic boss

 

About the god motivation, the whole faction is not cooperating for it, but when you have a fort map and all or almost all the "top" dd from 1 side farming pvp outside, you will still have some that are trying to go in and win the event, but they dont be able to. My example about it could be "abused" on battlefield was just to show the bad side of it, i never saw it happening for now 🙂

As you said "im suggesting", i dont have data to make the delay appropriate to the server progress, you have, so im just asking for any kind of delay, duration is up to you.

People buy materials for 5-10a and some newbies are selling it towards those shops because they dont know the prices, in the end making s grade weapon and gathering materials for it becomes extremely cheap at the first days, when newbies see A grades, veterans go for S grade.

Amount of materials should also be increased, not just the price of Mithrill Alloy/DMP or other important ones. People will take advantage over it and buy a lot cheaper, because the amount required to craft one S grade is still the same.

The point about death boost is that it gives fair advantage for newbie DD if its an DD, im not butthurted by dying from one, but what if u see a tank with bishop that died 5 times and is sticking to Unicorn on Escort or Domination? He just stays, he is getting extra +1.5k p.def/m.def and then you see him wearing B grade heavy armor and getting penalty bonus reward for it.

Warlord are getting assists time to time ofc, they can`t get lots of it from Death Boost, but people were making constantly new characters, and they weren`t giving a f*ck about how many times they die. They were dying, they were getting the buff bonus and heal for backup. The circle of abusement and reward goes on again.

That was my point of it, my bad, I should have describe it more precisely. Its about the hole you can`t see we are talking about.

@Advol all these examples of people working / studying or whatever are not the point at all, there are people from different timezones, all of them should have an equal chance to meet a boss event, that's all.

Perhaps what needs to be changed is the rate at which death boost level is being reduced, atm its every 150 points or every 20 assists (or every 1 kill ofc) - this could've been much easier if people would simply make proper reports in these matters.

This is exactly what we mean.

We decided to not report anything till the end of season(or the stage he is in right now) in order to not make drama before next season or simply destroy other people fun.

I also think that people got discouraged by the way they were treated on Forum. I know that it`s been X seasons and you are used to it. But making after each post response with simple "Make a proper post/report/proof" would help, you could also make some FAQ on forum about how to "make a post/report" correctly.

I tried my best to do it in the most neutral, correct and gentle manner. After seeing the whole interest and responses i have still some things to mention in part 2 of the post.

Yeah i'll give my 50 cents on this since ive lived this update from discussion (about progressive)

For those who dont remember before the items used to go free, and then this was switched after sometime for a gear balance that makes the gameplay balance between players endogenus to the model (it is a variable determined by our own progress as we buy items) instead of items going free after 1 week (exogenus, arbitrary)

The idea came when me and @Silence played some other server i wont mention, that to be honest didnt lived well enough as ovc (if we think at least 1 mo of game in IL seasons) BUT had some nice ideas we could bring here (or at least try)

IMO since the beggining of the implementation of the system here it wasnt to be working perfect.I t was expected (at least for me) that there would be some flaws, since its a new system, and the only way to calibrate it is taking observations from LIVE season.

As we saw from this season it is very easy and gamebreaking/annoying to exploit the system with warlords in low gear (c/b) to get the maximum boost. U would die few, get tons of money from assists while server dies cause pvp was sucking.

For me its a correct move limiting it from -200% to 200%, and tbh i would suggest incorporating the gear system and server items development (by drops in pvp) in PHASES.  

At start, for 1st week, gear balance goes to -50 from 50, 2nd week -100 to 100, and so on till it reaches the limit on 200%. This could be possibly managed together with selective drops, changing accordingly to players development.

Imo since gear balance had been implemented, server lived a bit more, emerald could get more bucks from adena scrolls without having to sell full s grade at 1st day and so on.. im already seeing the returns in server quality from many stuff made in the recent past.

So.. things got better.

The thing is since now everything is interconnected (the money earned, which affects the choice of pvp classes, which affects the pvp, which affects everything) administration should work in making the incentives less distorced as possible. Warlods just happened now, but this could happen to any class with the wrong input. People cant feel "omg i just found a way to make super money with the less effort as possible", cause everyone will do it and there is no mechanism here to correct when the stock is going way too up.

((Going deep in my OPINION (this case) dont hate me support players))

Since we are in a PVP server, it is unacceptable for me a support or CC class making more adena in a map than a TOP DD of any class, which happens most of the time with the new system. 

A S grader doing 50 kills should make more adena than any support or CC with any gear difference. #polemicstarts 😅😅

Maybe the best way to calibrate gear balance is make a sense of bottom side and upper side of the %'s, which is not easy, and dont throw a number and go trial and error.

About MAPS and POPULATION >

Map selection could be improved, some maps could be even deleted, other could be improved hardly cause they are good and can be even better. (Make some kinda of historical vote-stat for maps to see which maps people really like or which ones no1 never votes)

Another thing that could go better is the pools of maps when there is low and high online. (Make at least 5 pools of maps according to the distance between faction spawns)

It is sad for everyone who dont play on main EU gmt with the giant maps when low pop. This is where fail starts.. people logging off cause they make 5 pvps in 30 minutes.

Also, i dont know how its working right now. BUT in case it is the way i think it is, when people vote, the chances should be ponderated. 3 maps, 15 votes, map a has 7, map b has 3, map c has 5, A has 7/15 chance, B has 3/15 chance, C has 5/15 chance. Its working like this right?

Since we are in a PVP server, it is unacceptable for me a support or CC class making more adena in a map than a TOP DD of any class, which happens most of the time with the new system. 

A S grader doing 50 kills should make more adena than any support or CC with any gear difference. #polemicstarts 😅😅

Maybe the best way to calibrate gear balance is make a sense of bottom side and upper side of the %'s, which is not easy, and dont throw a number and go trial and error. 

agree, OL / duelist/ mage / Warlord spamming AOE and making 30k per map, gg.
Perhaps, Any AOE SKILL/Heal/DMG/debuff should have a reduced:
1. gear penalty bonus 50% - avoid abusing B grade vs S grade
2. aoe effect bonus - the more targets hit/heal/effect the less rewards you get. (every target x = n +1 and x*0.85)

the AOE nerf should be not much, since we dont want to loose CC, supp classes.
